Geology vs geological engineering free
What I have found seems to suggest that geological engineers can pretty much do what geologists can, but geological engineers seem to have greater employment potential. By the descriptions that I have found of geological engineering, it seems that it is a superior major to geology as far as employment goes for anyone interested in geology.
Engineering geology is the application of the geology to engineering study for the purpose of assuring that the geological factors regarding the location, design, construction, operation and maintenance of engineering works are recognized and accounted for. Engineering geologists provide geological and geotechnical recommendations, analysis, and design associated with human development and
Engineering Geologists vs Geological Engineers vs Geotechnical Engineers February 23, 2011 rockman Rockman's Ramblings 5 True Geoengineer, Ed Medley wrote an article attempting to answer this question in the MarchApril 2009 issue of the Geoinstitutes GeoStrata Magazine I remember reading it at that time and enjoying it.
First of all you have to think about that both geology and geophysics are huge fields and even people that think of themselves as a geologist or geophysicist can have vastly different research topics. If a geologist and a geophysicist are interested in the same topic,
Sep 24, 2011 In broad terms, geology is the study of the Earth and geophysics is the study of the physical properties of the Earth. In other words, a geologist would study rocks and a geophysicist would study the physical properties of the rocks density, magnetism, conductivity, velocity, etc.
Engineering Geology is an international interdisciplinary journal bridging the fields of the earth sciences and engineering, particularly geological and geotechnical engineering. The focus of the journal is on geological or engineering studies that are of interest to engineering geologists, whether their initial training is in geology or civilmining engineering.
After careful analysis of the geology of the location, geological engineers prepare reports and work with civil engineers to help select the best materials to use and suggest areas that require additional reinforcement. Salaries and Job Outlook. Geological and mining engineers, which generally fall under the geological engineering discipline
