Jul 25, 2012 The Old Castlemaine Gaol is heritagelisted, and that means the Mt Alexander branch of the National Trust of Australia is taking a strong interest in the Gaol's fate. Janet Gilmore is the branch president and she says the Gaol is 'highly significant. You don't meet many gaols sitting on top of a hill overlooking a town, she says.
